About Me

An article that I wrote about people with different professions at the same time, I realized I belonged to the same category as well! An RJ, a freelance writer, voice over artist, compeer and sometimes as a publicity manager that’s what defines me professionally. But I think there’s a lot to be discovered of the things I can manage in life. Today, I write for some of the leading dailies in Bangalore for The Hindu and Deccan Herald. I also host shows on Bangalore’s leading FM station – FM Rainbow, 101.3MHz. Cut throat competition is making the channel to look for new ways of retaining listeners. Most definitely it’s an all new experience for Bangalore’s RJ’s as it is the boom time of radio in Bangalore.

This year has been wonderful. Have got to meet several people who are distint personalities in their own right, whether it was Suhas Gopinath, Dr. Ali Khwaja, Prarthna Pradutt and several others. But hey… radio is not only exciting because of meeting interesting people. It is enthralling, as it gives the RJ The power to connect to thousands of listeners. That’s amazing.

To go little on a flashback…again more personalities were interviewd last year too. 2006 gave me wonderful opportunities to talk to celebrities and I do find every interview challenging and an experience to be remembered. Early in 2006 I did get opportunities to talk to Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam and Vasundara Das over phone and got them on tele-call on radio. From the corporate sector it was wonderful to talk to Kiran Mazumdar Shaw on International Women’s Day. The same day I got to talk to the spirited sportsperson on radio – Malati Hollal. Would love to meet her someday. These were over phone but a seiries that our station started gave me the opportunity of interviewing well known personalities including Vani Ganapathy, Dr. Devi Shetty and one of my dad’s favourite heroines Sharmila Tagore.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS CAREER WISE

I have spent a good part of my life as a Public Relations Executive! Did I say life; heck there is not much of good life left for a PR executive in any of the PR firms in Bangalore. I have worked in couple of PR agencies and ultimately I gave up working as a senior PR executive, as it was much better to work independently for a few clients. Even today if a project seems interesting, something which can be publicized or marketed I do take it up. I have independently handled PR for plays, lifestyle exhibitions and so on.

Unfortunately, even though the profession does not command much respect from various sections of society, I am glad of going through the ups and downs in my journey of Public Relations. For one it brings down your ego to zero level and one definitely turns out to be a levelheaded person

STINT ON TELEVISION

After about five years of experience in P.R, I moved on to another medium where I had never imagined that one day it would mean the world to me. RADIO changed my life completely as it gave me the opportunity to be myself. Though I must admit that before radio I even tried being on television and had a short stint in the Television world hosting a few regional shows on ETV Kannada for a program known as ‘ Gelathi ’ and for Udaya TV for program known as ‘ Nimminda Nimagagi ’. Television is an excellent medium for fame agreed, but personally my experiences at television has made me feel they are quite biased and equal opportunities are not given. But on the positive side I am hopeful one day I will be hosting a show that I enjoy on any of the leading channels.

By now you would have guessed it? Yes! I am a person who wants to try as many fields as I can, but for the present situation; I do understand that Writing and Radio is my forte and I would like to believe that until tomorrow morning. Who knows what would I do tomorrow?
